National Cowboy Hall of Famer. Some regarded him as one of Rodeo's greatest calf, steer and tie-down roper. He was the World Champion Calf Roper of 1959, World Champion Steer Roper of 1967, Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer of 1979 and National Cowboy Hall of Famer of 1995. He competed in the National Finals calf roping 10 times and in the National Finals steer roping six times.
