This year 2017 - our YDNA was done for our Almand family.
Our name is not ALMAND/ALMOND or any variations of this name.
We can only trace (with proofs) our family line back to Thomas Almand, Sr. born 1762 who married Annice Ussery.
Familytree DNA told me that for some reason Irish people changed their names - a lot! There are eight pages of names matching our YDNA. But only four (4) names of Almand variations. At this point we may never find the answer to this. Contact me if you are interested in these YDNA results.

A Second Obitary has additonal information:

January 30, 1896 - Conyers Weekly Newspaper:
Mr. Almand Dead: It is with sorrow that we chronicle the death of Mr. Juson Almand, who died at his home in Ingleside Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock.
For quite awhile Mr. Almand has been unwell and at times very feele, probably due to injuries received sometime back on the railroad.
He is the son of Mr. H. P. Almand Sr. and was for a long time a resident of Conyers.
The remains of Mr. Almand were brought to Conyers yesterday and buried in Eastview Cemetery, after approriate religious services at the Baptist Church by Revs. Wearver and B. D. Ragsdale.

The following abstact regarding the above mentioned injuries:

November 5, 1880 Conyers Weekly Newspaper
Mr. Judson Almand was seriously wounded last Friday night from blow of a tin lamp at the depot in Atanta.

A. Judson Almand was the son of Henry Pryor Almand, Sr., and his second wife, Zellah Farrell. Considering that the Almands were Baptist folk, Judson's full name likely was Adoniram Judson Almand, after the well known Baptist missionary to Burma, Adorniram Judson.

On 19 December 1877, Judson married Sarah Susan Stephenson, the daughter of Moses Randel Stephenson and Mary James, of DeKalb Co., GA. In 1880, the couple lived in Conyers, Rockdale Co., GA.. They eventually had four children, two unnamed infants who died: one May 30, 1884; Grier F. Almand, and James Roy Almand who lived to have familes of their own.
