OBITUARY
Nathan Thomas Allen was born in Tuscumbia, Ala., Feb. 16, 1849, and died Nov. 16, 1930 at his home in Elmo, Kans. Age 81 years and 9 months.

During his early life he moved with his parents to Pleasant Hill, Mo., and after manhood moved to Kansas.

During the year of 1872 he was united in matrimony to Lizzie Anderson. To this union three children were born. Two preceded him in death and John W. Allen of Lafayette, Colo., survives his father.

This union being severed, he later married Hulda Anderson in 1877. To this union seven children were born: Minnie Barnard, Elmo, Kans.; Ida Hensley, Natoma, Kans,; Viola Ashbough, Palo-Alto, Cal.; Maude Zimmerman, Russell, Kans.; Ethel Bush, Salina, Kans.; LeRoy Allen, Gypsum, Kans.; and Alma Earhart of Honolulu.

Coming to Kansas in 1889, he with his family settled on a homestead near Fairport, where they lived for several years, later coming to Gypsum for seven years and then moving to Elmo where he resided till death. While living at Fairport he united with the Presbyterian church in the year of 1907.

When a young man he served in the Confederate Army. (Co. C 16th MO CAV)

Beside his wife and children he leaves to mourn his going other near relatives and many friends.

He was a loving husband and a kind father, a good neighbor and friend. During his last few years his affliction was of such nature that he was bedfast and suffered much. All was done for his comfort that loving hands could do. Our loss is his gain.
