Helene Catherine ZuJeddeloh was born June 19, 1837 in the Province of Oldenburg, Germany, and died at her home in Atkinson, Feb 17, 1912.
She was united in holy matrimony with Mr. John D. Alfs on the 29th day of April, 1864. They came over to this country in the year 1873.
To this union 6 children were born, 4 sons and 2 daughters. John, Henry, Hugo, Mrs. Anna Siebert of Atkinson and Agnes and Otto of Wall, SD, who together with her husband and 7 grandchildren are left to mourn her loss.
The funeral was held on Monday. Rev Walter Fleischmann of the Evangelical Lutheran Church conducted the burial service, and interment was made in Woodlawn Cemetery. So, another of the old settlers is gone, one who was well known and respected in the community for years and a host of friends will sincerely miss her and mourn her decease.
