OBITUARY: James Olen Agerton, 83, a resident of Oak Ridge Nursing Home in El Dorado and formerly of Urbana, went home to glory on Friday, March 14, 2008, at Life Touch Hospice House in El Dorado. Born on Aug. 24, 1924, he was the son of Wilson and Clara Frisby Agerton, who preceded him in death, along with a son, Bonnie Roy Bull. James loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, walking or gardening. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Co. after 31 years and then fully enjoyed his retirement years until becoming ill three years ago. At that time, he and his wife moved from Urbana to Oak Ridge Nursing Home, where for several months he entertained the residents and staff with his singing, especially "Beulah Land", his favorite song. The family extends a very special thank you to the staff of Oak Ridge Nursing Home for taking such good care of James. James was a member and served as an usher at Harmony Baptist Church for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during the World War II era. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Allie Mae Agerton of El Dorado; two sons, Robert D. Agerton (Jerri) of Urbana, and Mac Arthur Bull (Marta) of El Dorado; two brothers, Mike Agerton (Dovie) and Billy Agerton (Juanita), all of Urbana; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in Urbana Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary and Jerry Agerton, James Carroll Frisby, Jack Frisby, Huitt Carter, Lee Roy Pratt and Wesley Webb. Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 4268 Junction City Highway, El Dorado, AR 71730.
