"John moved from Missouri to California when he was young, and operated a grocery store in the Addington Building in Colusa CA for many years before retiring to Honolulu HI. He returned to Colusa to manage the Colusa Implement Company shortly before his death. Died from double pneumonia. He was recovering from an accidental shotgun wound inflicted by his young nephew, Lionel ZUMWALT, when he contracted pneumonia and died."

COLUSA (Colusa Co.:, Oct. 26 -- J. L. Zumwalt, who was accidentally shot last Saturday by his nephew, Lionel Zumwalt, while hunting ducks, died today from pneumonia. He was manager of the Colusa Implement Company and was a brother of Attorney I. G. Zumwalt.
His recovery from the gunshot wound was expected, but in his weakened condition he was unable to withstand the attack of pneumonia.
