DIED--Mrs. Martha Jane Fletcher at her home near Lafayette, October 15, 1910, of dropsy, at the age of 74 years. At her bedside were her two sons, George Fletcher of Louisville and Wm. Fletcher of Lafayette and her daughter, Mrs. Anna Jones, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, who had scarcely left her bedside for eleven weeks. Everything that was possible was done to ease the suffering of a fond and devoted mother.
Martha Jane Zugg was born in Indiana August 17, 1836. She was married to Albert Fletcher in 1855 in the state of Ohio. Mr. Fletcher passed away in 1862 in Illinois. Five children were born to this union. She was married to Mr. Naim Fletcher in 1863 at Belle Plain, Iowa. From there they moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1873.
Her second husband passed away at this place in 1902. She came to Louisville, Colorado in 1903 where she has since resided with her sons. Besides the children present at her bedside she leaves a son, James, in Fort Dodge Iowa, and a daughter, Martha Johnson of Oakland, California, to mourn her loss, also one surviving brother, Daniel Zugg, of Knoxville, Iowa. Her twin sister, Eliza Hyer, having passed away January 24, 1909.
By her own request Rev. James Howell of Boulder officiated at the funeral. She was laid to rest in Lafayette cemetery.
The funeral was held at two o'clock Monday afternoon.
