Elizabeth was the daughter of Christian Berkey and Catherine Saylor. She was born in Germany. She married Joseph S. Mishler Sr., son of Hans Mischler, abt. 1762 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She died Bef. 1810 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. They had seven children:
Joseph S. Jr.
Freny--married Christian Miller (he came to America in 1742)
Christina---married Christian Speicher, Sr.
Her husband died and she went to America on the ship Phoenix with her sons and daughters. She had the good fortune to marry a widower named Christian Zug (Zook) as his second wife. He was the land agent for numerous warrants in Somerset County., but he stayed at his home in Chester County, where he welcomed many new immigrants. Christian Zug "Zook" had at least six sons and some daughters (by his late wife, Magdalena Mast Zug) who settled on nearby farms. Such family ties were common.
The Mishler children were supported by their stepfather, but eventually they became independent and formed families of their own.

Find A Grave contributor Charlie Zuck has made a suggestion to you 6-27-13 regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Elizabeth Zug.
I have two different sources for Christian Zug (1758 - 1814) and neither one mentions a second marriage. You say Elizabeth Burkey died before 1810. Christian's wife, Magdalena, died in 1842, 32 years after Elizabeth died, according to your write up. Research I did, says Joseph and Elizabeth came to America on the Phoenix together and I could not find a second marriage listed for her. I must admit, I do not have the book that you give as a source, but will most likely purchase a copy soon. So, please unlink Christian from Elizabeth. Christian is my 4th Great Grandfather.
