Mary Emma Shank Barclay, 82, of George Street, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2003, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant.
Born Aug. 9, 1920, in New Wilmington, she was a daughter of the late Enoch J. and Mary Emma Spiker Zook.
An active and long-time member of Scottdale Mennonite Church, she also was involved with the Mennonite Women's Sewing Circle.
She was a member of Scottdale Garden Club and Laurelville Church Center. She loved flowers and planting flower boxes.
Surviving are her husband, H.E. Barclay, whom she married Nov. 29, 1969; three daughters, Louise (Mrs. Larry) Reeser of Heyworth, Ill., Norma (Mrs. Roger) Oswald of Williamsburg and Betty (Mrs. Montie) Hughes of Grottoes, Va.; six stepchildren, Rosalie (Mrs. Dale) Billheimer of Industry, Elaine (Mrs. Edwin) Kaper, Paul (husband of Nancy) and Wayne (husband of Lisa), all of Scottdale, and Herb (husband of Donna) and Blaine (husband of Kim) both of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Chester R. Shank, whom she married June 15, 1943, and who died July 26, 1967; two sisters, Sara Eshleman and Ethel Troyer; and two brothers, Orren and Homer Zook.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Scottdale Mennonite Church, Market Street, with the Rev. Charles Shenk officiating. Committal service and burial will follow in Scottdale Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Frank Kapr Funeral Home, 417 W. Pittsburgh St. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the church.
