WOODSTOCK – Gladys L. Nepermann, 85, formerly of Woodstock and Huntley, died peacefully Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at her home with her children by her side.
She was born May 28, 1925, in Elgin, to Ernest and Edith (Eggert) Zimmick. After high school she worked at the Elgin Watch factory. She married Leo W. Nepermann on Feb. 25, 1947.
She was active in the family dairy farm. She enjoyed cooking and catering food for people. She was an avid bowler at Huntley Bowl Hi Lanes. She had a great sense of humor and always had a joke.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Mau of Wauconda, Susan Hurley of Algonquin, Jerry (Gail) Nepermann of Huntley, and Steve Nepermann and Scott Nepermann, both of Woodstock; a sister, Arlene Watermann of Plato Center; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, who died April 15, 2004; a daughter, Karen; her brothers, Roy, Marvin and Harold; and her son-in-law, Dr. Len Hurley.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. The visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
The omission of flowers is requested. Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1320 Dean St., Woodstock.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Violetta, Amy and Mary Beth, who so lovingly cared for Gladys.
