Zimmerman - John S. Zimmerman departed this life at 7 o'clock Friday evening, Feb. 11, 1910, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Sweitzer, on East Sherman avenue, Lincoln Park, Colorado. Death came almost unexpectedly inasmuch as he was not seriously ill. He quietly fell asleep. He was born in Bern, Switzerland, Oct. 10, 1823, and came to America in 1832. He lived in Ohio until 1869, when he moved to Hiawatha, Kans. He was married to Magdelene Zimmerman who preceeded him to the eternal world Sept. 21, 1903. Seven children were born to this union, four having passed to their eternal rest, leaving Edward Zimmerman, Charles Zimmerman, of Vernal Utah, and Mrs. Christian Switzer, of Canon City, Colo., with whom the deceased had made his home the past six years, where he enjoyed every comfort that loving heart and hands could bestow. "Uncle John" Zimmerman, as he was familiarly called and know, was a charter member of the Reformed church of Hiawatha, and had held the honored office of deacon and elder for many years. He was naturally hopeful and cheerful, and full of sunshine, making friends wherever he went. Thus passes another veteran from the stage of action. The funeral services were held from the Reformed church on Feb. 16, 1910 at 2"30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Hassenpflug presiding.
