Crystal was born to Lonnie and Diane Rammage Zimbelman and was raised in Enders, attending school in Imperial. She attended McCook Junior High School for her freshman year and was a sophomore at Chase County High School at the time of her death. She frequently attended camp sessions at Bethel Bible Camp in Wellfleet. Survivors include her father, Lonnie Zimbelman and Darla, Jason and Jenny Wilson; mother, Diane and Dan Rogers; three sisters, DaniSue, Kimberly and Roxanne; her grandparents, Ruby Zimbelman and Bill Stock, Gordon and Janet Rammage and Dorothea Rogers; great-grandmother, Erna Rammage. Crystal died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at age 16.
