OBITUARY : FRANCES LILLIAN (ZEIGLER) BAKER, 79, a resident of Quincy Village, Quincy, Pa., and formerly of 12019 Old Route 16, Rouzerville, Pa., passed away at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010, in the nursing home.
Born April 13, 1931, in Rouzerville, she was the daughter of the late Norris L. Zeigler and Catherine A. (Matthews) Zeigler. She spent most of her life in the Rouzerville area.
Mrs. Baker attended St. Andrew Catholic School.
She and her husband, the late Mr. Glenn R. "Mike" Baker, were married July 5, 1989, in Hagerstown, Md. She had lived at her Rouzerville address since the mid-1970s. Mr. Baker died July 22, 1999. Mrs. Baker entered the nursing home in January 2008.
Mrs. Baker was employed in the housekeeping department of Waynesboro Hospital for many years and later was a floor lady and machine operator at Waynesboro Knitting Mill.
She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro.
Mrs. Baker enjoyed working on puzzle books and watching TV.
She is survived by three children, Douglas F. Zeigler of Waynesboro, Sharon K. Daywalt of Candor, N.C., and Tina M. Hahn of Waynesboro; three stepchildren, Glenn D. "Mike" Baker Jr. of Mont Alto, Pa., Dale A. Baker of Waynesboro and Nancy Phinicie of Mont Alto; four grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; one sister, Mary Kipe of Shippensburg, Pa.; two brothers, Andrew Zeigler of Waynesboro and Ronald Zeigler of Rouzerville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two stepsons, James E. Baker and Ronald E. Baker; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Kay Baker; an infant sister, Carol Lee Zeigler; and a brother, Robert Zeigler.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2010, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Monsignor Mercurio Fregapane officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville, Pa. It was her request to have no public viewing, but the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Franklin and Fulton County Unit, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
