Nellie P. Zeiders, 91, Altoona, went home to be with her Lord early Tuesday afternoon at Valley View Home.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Harry Albert Sr. and Mary E. (Donahue) Slogenhop. She married William Harry Zeiders on Dec. 28, 1943, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1994.
Surviving are nephews, Gary L. Slogenhop and wife, Sharon, of Sinking Valley, Donald R. Zeiders, Joseph K. Zeiders and Karl Price; nieces Beverly Hirchak of Altoona, Ruth Ann Culver and Helen Jane Bainbridge; two grandnieces: Gretchen Hutchison and husband, Justin, and Rebecca Culver; two grandnephews: Darren Slogenhop and Adam Hircha; two great-grandnieces, Emily and Melony; great-grandnephew, Alex; and a sister-in-law, Clesta Slogenhop.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry A. "Had" Slogenhop Jr., on March 1, 1999.
Nellie was a 1937 graduate of Altoona High School and was a member of the reunion committee. She was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona, where she belonged to the Deborean Sunday school class, taught the young adult Sunday school class, held various offices on the church council and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She also served on the Home Nursing Agency Auxiliary and served as a reader for the Blair County Association for the Blind.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Revs. Marsha Bookhamer and Matthew E. Lake co-officiating. Interment will be made at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Avenue United Methodist Church, 130 Second Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
