DWIGHT — Nancy J. Kemp, 75, of Dwight died at 12:19 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 4, 2010) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dwight, with the Rev. Heidi Punt officiating. Burial will be in McDowell Cemetery, Dwight.
Nancy was born June 28, 1935, in Dwight, the daughter of Anthony and Cecelia Thompson Zappa. She married Ted Kemp on March 31, 1962, at the First Congregational Church, Dwight.
She is survived by her husband, Ted, of 48 years; daughter, Tina (Darrell) Carmichael, Indianapolis, Ind.; son, Mike Kemp, Pontiac; sisters, Rose Marie (Don) Howard, Dwight, and Jeanette (Larry) Luckey, Lowell, Ind.; brother, Chuck (Grace) Zappa, Lima, Ohio; two grandchildren, Rachael and Camryn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents and siblings, Marge, Jim, John, Bill and Bobby preceded her in death.
Nancy was a 1954 graduate of Dwight High School. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dwight.
Prior to delivering Meals on Wheels for many years, she worked at Illinois Bell and Clapp's Grocery Store in Dwight.
Nancy organized the first Boy Scout Group for the mentally disabled in Illinois. She and her husband, Ted, were Den Leaders of Pack 204.
