Joseph J. Zakrzewski, 62, formerly of Hartford, died in his sleep on Monday, (January 1, 2007) at the Northampton Veterans Hospital. Born in Poland on July 25, 1944, son of the late Martin and Mary (Tomasiewicz) Zakrzewski, he and his family moved to the Hartford area in 1949. He attended local schools and graduated from Hartford Public High School. Joe was proficient in woodworking and tennis, and served as the tennis team captain in his senior year. He leaves a sister, Mary C. Zakrzewski of Simsbury; a brother, Richard M. Zakrzewski and his wife Maria of East Hartford; two nieces, Christine Zakrzewski of East Hartford and Katherine Zakrzewski of Manchester; and several cousins. His family and other remaining relatives and friends will miss him greatly. He was a good man. Family and friends may gather, on Saturday, January 6, 9:15 a.m., at the South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, followed by a Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends, on Friday, January 5, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford, CT 06106.
