Harriet Zakrzewski (nee Grzeskowiak), age 92, late of Merrillville, formerly of South Chicago, passed away August 29, 2011 with a gentle breathe on the holy ground of St Anthony Hospice after a two month struggle from stroke complications.
Harriet's blessed devotion to her family was only surpassed by a deep and simple faith in God. Her sense of humor and strength gifted us until the day she died.
Beloved wife of the late James; loving mother of Pat (Bill) Kaczmarczyk, James (Darlene) Zack, Carol (late Ed) Banks, and Debbie (Mike) Jachim-Scamihorn; devoted grandmother of Robert (Tracy) Kaczmarczyk, James (Jennifer) Kaczmarczyk, Joseph (Jeni) Banks, Timothy (Debra) Banks, Amanda (Anthony) Jeleniewski, Michael Banks, Pete Jachim, Tracy (David) Missal, and Rachel (Joseph) Kelley; cherished great grandmother of Gabriel, Ike, Oliver, Zeke, Greta, Violet, Anthony, Madeline, Max, and Sydney.
Preceded in death by her brother, Ted and sisters: Wanda and Helen.
Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 11300 W. 97th Ln. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th St.), St. John to St. Victor Church (Calumet City, IL) for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. 219-365-3474.
