George Zankle, 84?, of 730 North 12th street, retired ship carpenter, died
Saturday evening at his home. He had been in failing health several months.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wattawa, Urbanek
and Schlei Funeral home and at 9 o’clock at the Sacred Heart church. Burial
will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Zankle was born in Franklin in 1861 and 59 years ago married Miss Theresa
Zeman of Manitowoc. They lived on a farm in Franklin until 1902 when they
moved to this city. Until six years ago when he retired, Mr. Zankle was a ship
carpenter at the Manitowoc Ship Building company.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Edmund and Edward of this city, A. William
of Two Rivers; three daughters, Mrs. Otto Klein, Mrs. John Gennrich and Mrs.
George C. Peterson of this city; two sisters, Mrs. August Nell of Milwaukee,
Mrs. Joseph Zeman of Two Rivers; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home where the rosary will be recited at
7:30 tonight.
