EDWARD J. ZANKLE (d. 1969)

Edward J. Zankle, 73, of 935 N. 12th St., Manitowoc, died early Wednesday
morning at Manitowoc County Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Theodore Sauer will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Mr. Zankle was born Oct. 17, 1895, at Manitowoc, son of the late George and
Theresa Zeman Zankle. He was graduated from Central High School, Manitowoc, in
1915 and was employed at Mirro Aluminum Co. until 1918 when he entered military
service, serving from May 13, 1918, until Sept. 30, 1921. He was in the Ninth
Naval District and became a yeoman first class.
Most of his adult life was spent in the banking business. He joined the State Bank
of Manitowoc was assistant cashier when it opened for business Dec. 20, 1920. When
he retired Dec. 31, 1963, he was in charge of the real estate loan department of
Manitowoc Savings Bank.
Mr. Zankle was a charter member of Grce Lutheran Church and served as its president.
He also was a member of Drews-Bleser Post No. 88, American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, two brothers, Edmund, of Manitowoc and Louis, of Two Rivers,
two sisters, Mrs. George Peterson and Mrs. Charles Hopf, of Manitowoc and a grandson.
Two daughters and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 4 p.m.
Thursday until noon Friday when the casket will be moved to the church where the
body will lie in state until time of service.
Graveside military rites will be provided by the Drews-Bleser post.
