When she came to Augusta.Arkansas with her husband who used the name Capt.L.J. Crocker, she gave her name as Gabrielle Crocker who was born in 1841 in Kentucky--however, it was rumored she was really Sarah Josephine King, wife of William Quantrill, who married him at the age of 13 in Blue Springs, Jackson County,Missouri where she was born on the family farm.
She was 17 yrs old when she allegedly helped Quantrill escape when he was in the prison hospital in Kentucky and they hid out at her relative's home there until he recovered enough to travel.
If they changed their identities to Capt L.J. and Gabrielle Crocker and went to Augusta, Arkansas, she gave the correct year of birth but said she was born in Kentucky.
She separated from her husband in 1881 and returned home to Jackson County, Missouri where she died in 21 of either July or August,1914.
