Laurice graduated from Melvern High School.
Laurice married Bruce E. Kramer on May 1, 1939 in Melvern; he preceded her in death in 1977. She married Richard G. Bate on February 2, 1991 in Lawrence; he preceded her in death in 2004.
Laurice did handwork at Hallmark where she later became a machinist until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Lawrence Free Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Sutton, Berryton, KS; and Judith (Gary) Gallant, Deer Park, TX; five grandchildren, David (Julie) Sutton; Barbara (John) Hawley; Brenda (Mike) Schirmer; Daniel Schmidt; and Shellie (Bruce) Pack; seven great-grandchildren, and siblings, Victor (Clarice) Young, Eagle, ID; Duane (Veva) Young, Melvern; and Donita Hotchkiss, Topeka.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka 66604. Graveside Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Melvern Cemetery, Melvern. Laurice will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where family will receive friends from 7:00 8:30 p.m. Monday.
