LONE GROVE -- Funeral services for Duffy L. Young, 90, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lone Grove First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. David Gardner, pastor of Stobtown Free Will Baptist Church and Rev. Dwain Duck, pastor of Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Lone Grove Cemetery.

Duffy Louis Young was born June 11, 1908, at Shoals, Ark., son of the late William and Aler Hawthorne Young. He came to Lone Grove in 1924 from Arkansas and had lived here since. He died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1998, at his Lone Grove residence.

A member of Stobtown Free Will Baptist Church, he and Lois Mae Rutledge were married Aug. 24, 1976, at Gainesville, Texas. Active in all community affairs, he had served on the Lone Grove school board for 13 years and was a life-member of the Oklahoma State Coon Hunters Association. He was an employee of the Oklahoma State Highway Department and Carter County District 3 for more than 30 years, and was road foreman for District 3 when he retired in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Mae Young, of the home; two sons, Don Young, Norman, and Lyndall Ray Young, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Joan Kincheloe and Fern Bolles, Ardmore; a stepson, Don Rutledge, Lone Grove; two stepdaughters, Coelene Guinn, Lone Grove, and Tiajuana Wolfe, Muskogee; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lora Simpson Young; a daughter, Shirley Bray; a son, Ronnie Young; and stepson, Arlyn Phillips.

Serving as bearers will be Bill Idleman Sr., Bill Idleman Jr., Chris Young, Derren Bray, Adrian Young and Jerrell Bray. Honorary bearers include Enoch Watterson, Buster Graves, Ralph Sullivan, Dale Vernon, Tom Admas and L.O. Eagon.

Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, Ardmore.
