He was a member of Kentucky Hospital Engineers Association and National Fire Protection Association. He had a Amateur Radio Operators License and was a licensed electrical contractor in Indiana and Kentucky certified in all refrigeration. He was a member of Tunnel Hill Christian Church in Edwardsville and served as chairman of the church elders.
