Don Weldon Young passed away at the age of 73 at his home in Ardmore, Okla., on Saturday, November 14, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2015, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Grove Cemetery, Lone Grove, Okla., following services.
Don was born on April 21, 1942, at Lone Grove, Okla., to D.L. Young and Lora (Simpson) Young. He attended Lone Grove Schools.
He started selling used cars and for many years had several used car dealerships in Oklahoma and Texas. While operating the dealerships, Don was simultaneously running his working ranches.
He was a longtime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He later owned the Sulphur Livestock Market until poor health forced him into retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronnie Young and Arlin Phillips; and sisters, Shirley Bray and JoAnn Kincheloe.
Don is survived by his son, Adrian Young; granddaughter, Stephanie Young; great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Kiker; brother, Lyndall Young; sister, Fern Bolles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Cox, J.P. Hockersmith, Lyndon Branch, John Davenport, Thomas Tucker, and Jody Taylor. Honorary bearer will be Gerald “ Shoe” Norton
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., November 17, 2015, at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
