KINGS MOUNTAIN - Dovie York Black, 95, of Kings Mountain and formerly of Gastonia, died Feb. 25, 2008, at White Oaks Manor.
A native of Macon County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late John and Etta Belle Chambers York.
She was retired from Wix Corporation, was member of Parkwood Baptist Church and attended Penley's Chapel in Kings Mountain.
Survivors include a son, Wiliam Bess Black Jr. and wife Dorothy of Kings Mountain; sister, Maxine Nash of Bessemer City; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Bess Black Sr.; daughter, Marcia Lee Lyles; grandsons, William Derick Black, Terry Lyles and Michael Lyles; four brothers; and five sisters.
A funeral service with the Rev. Doug Allen officiating will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Penley's Chapel in Kings Mountain.
Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
