" Mrs. Wm. Hurt died at her home in this city Monday evening from the effects of paralysis. She suffered a stroke on Thursday of last week and never rallied. She had been in poor health for some time, but notwithstanding this her death came as a shock to the community.
May Louise Day was born in 1844 at Small Point, Maine. She was married in 1860 to Captain George F. York. To this union were born eight children. She was a widow for several years, when she was married again to William Hurt in 1905. Mrs. Carrie Jordan, her daughter, was with her mother at the time of her death. She was 72 years old and has lived a christian life since childhood. It was said of her that she was always kind and loving to all she met and was beloved by all.
Mrs . Hurt was a woman of noble character, on who always had a kind word for everyone. She was a woman of experience in many ways, distinguished for her optimistic views of things. She was devoted to her home and friends and a firm believer in her Savior.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Bennett officiating. The remains were interred in the Greenwood cemetery. The sorrowing husband and daughter have the sympathy of the community in their affliction."
