SCOTTSVILLE - Joe York, 81, of Scottsville died at 9:06 a.m. May 29, 2007, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green. The Allen County native was a carpenter, a World War II Navy veteran, a Missionary Baptist minister and member of Durham Springs Missionary Baptist Church and The American Legion. He was a son of the late Joseph Winkfield York Sr. and Emily Iola Jones York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon and Bob York; and two sisters, Dolly Taylor and Irene Hammond. Funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday at Goad Funeral Home, with burial in Durham Springs Cemetery with military rites by the Navy. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Louise York; three sons, Gary York and his wife, Janet, Richard York and Ronnie York and his wife, Bonnie T., all of Scottsville; a daughter, Tammy York Petty and her husband, Kenneth, of Clarksville, Tenn.; four sisters, Thelma Conkright of Paducah and Audrey Douglas, Newman Hogue and Ruby Wimpee, all of Scottsville; six grandchildren, Tabbitha Whitlow, Stephanie Milstead, Leslie Hennion, Ashley Spears, Brandon Petty and April Petty; and three great-grandchildren, Dalton Whitlow, Regan Whitlow and Kaden Hennion.
