Albert J. Yerkes, died last Sunday, October 22, at his home, 234 Winona street, Germantown, aged 58 years. Mr. Yerkes is very well known in business circles in Philadelphia as a member of the firm of Yerkes Bros. & Co., 627 Market street, dry good merchants. He arose from the position of ordinary office boy to that of head of the firm. His widow Sallie, daughter, Annie, and a brother, Theodore survive him. He was a quiet unassuming man, being connected with no organization, outside of the merchants' and Salesmen's Beneficial Association. He is related to Justice Jones of Germantown and Joel J. Bailey. The funeral services were held on October 26 by Rev. James C. Hodgins of the Unitarian Church of Germantown. The honorary pall bearers were George S. Strawbridge, John S. Serrill, Edwin Corlies, Charles C. Harrop, Francis C. Williams and Charles Jones. Interment took place at Laurel Hill Cemetery
