Mary was the daughter of Abraham and Hannah Roberts Streper. Abraham was the son of William Streper of Germantown, and his great great grandfather William was one of the founders of Germantown. Hannah Roberts was the daughter of Phineas Roberts whose great grandfather Dr. Thomas Wynne was one of the most prominent early settlers in Pennsylvania.

On 18 June 1801, she married Titus Yerkes and bore him three children.
Robert Ansley Yerkes b 1804 who married Regina Hubbard
Richard Eckroyd Yerkes b 1809 who married Lydia Husband Walton and
Mary Paul Yerkes b 1814 who married Joel Cook.
