Bernice C. Kucera, age 81, of Tomah, WI, and formerly of the Town of Arthur, Chippewa County, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the Serenity House in Tomah under the wonderful care of Hospice Touch.
Bernice was born on Feb. 13, 1926, the daughter of Emmett and Gertrude (Scheidler) Yeager in the Town of Arthur.
She grew up in the Town of Arthur and married Eugene McDonald on April 10, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1951. She then married Donald Benish in 1953, and he preceded her in death in 1957. She married Edward Kucera on Feb. 8, 1958, and they moved to Kenosha where they owned and operated a mobile home court. In 1968 they purchased the Park Motel in Tomah that they owned and operated until retiring in 1992.
Bernice was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tomah.
She is survived by two sons, Robert McDonald of Washington and Patrick Kucera of Tomah-La Crosse; grandchildren Vicki (Frank) Kastory and Tim (Amanda) McDonald and four great-grandchildren and a sister, Evelyn (Arnold) LeDuc of Cadott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Edward Kucera in 2003, Donald Benish in 1957 and Eugene McDonald in 1951; a son, David McDonald; three brothers, Bernard, Harold and Raymond Yeager; two sisters, Lucille Bischel and Loretta Kucera.
A Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 23, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott with Father Donald Bauer officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Family and friends called at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott on Sunday, July 22, from 4-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary and also Monday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
