Casha Yates, 88, a resident of the area for the past 86 years, died at a local hospital Sunday.
She was born September 27, 1884 at Lafayette, Ore. In 1886 when she was two, the family moved to Wasco. In 1911 she was married to Phillip Yates [Sherman Co., Ore.; she was his second wife] and lived in Wasco until five years after her husband died in 1943. She then moved to The Dalles and has lived here since that time.
Mrs. Yates is a charter member of the Anne Fulton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Frank Brown Post, No. 91, Americal Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a nephew, Clio Rebman, Buena, Washington; three nieces: Virginia Reynolds, Hood River; Margory Hirst, Westminister, Calif.; and Elsie Hawk, Hayward, Calif.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 am, at Smith Callaway Chapel, with Ronald Coleman officiating. Committal services will be at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, in Portland at 2 pm.
Mrs. Yates will lie in state at Smith Callaway Chapel until 8 pm on Tuesday and and until 1 pm on Wednesday for friends who wish to call.
