Elizabeth Jean Yancey was the daughter of Lola Marie (Hendricks) and Lyman Kelso Yancey. She married Bruce Gerhard Bartelt, of Quincy, IL, on December 25, 1943 at the First Presbyterian Church in Quincy. Elizabeth and Bruce had five children, all of whom survived her: Gary, David, Mrs. Rebecca Brewer, and Daniel, all of Quincy; and Paul of St. Ann, Missouri.
Liz was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School and was a member of the Quill and Scroll, the honorary journalistic society. She worked as a receptionist until the birth of her first child. She was a 60 year member of the PEO and had served as president. When the family moved to Richfield, Minnesota, she joined the bowling league at Luxury Lanes where she became a licensed bowling instructor, in addition to serving as office manager. On returning to Quincy, she renewed her interest in playing bridge and played in several groups. She was active in the QHS Class of 1941 Reunion Committee.
She was survived by, in addition to her husband and children, eight grandchildren: Stephanie Bartelt of St. Louis, MO; Marc, Phillip and James Brewer of Quincy; and Sharadan, Sera, Daniel and Dana Bartelt of Quincy.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Lola Marie (Hendricks) and Lyman Kelso Yancey of Quincy.
