Merkel Woman Dies;
MERKEL, March 5--(Spl.)--Mrs. W. F. Golladay, 58, resident of Merkel over 45 years, died at 9:50 a.m. today in her home here. Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist church with the Rev. L. M. Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Barrow-Sheppard funeral home.
Mrs. Golladay suffered a stroke on Feb 25. Her condition became critical last Sunday.
Born Cora Ethel Wynne in Decatur, Ala., on Dec. 12, 1887, Mrs. Golladay came to Merkel in 1900 with her half-sister, Mrs. D. M. Miller, with whom she was reared. She was married March 11, 1908 in Merkel and had lived here since. She had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby F. Johnson of San Antonio; a half-sister, Mrs. Miller, of Merkel; two half-brothers, Flazie Miller of Mount Pleasant and Alvy Miller of Nashville, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Mary Faye Johnson of Merkel; and several nieces and nephews.
