Elizabeth Wynne Barnes, nee Wege, 1st Lt., U.S. Army, 42, died Oct. 27, 2008, peacefully in her sleep at home in Elizabeth City, NC.
Beth was an extremely skilled registered nurse in the Emergency Department of Albermarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC, and demonstrated great compassion and understanding of her profession.
Beth started her nursing career when she enlisted in the U.S. Army in the 1984. Ordered to active duty to support the Operations of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, she received the Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal (3 times), Good Conduct Medal, and Overseas Service Ribbons.
Daughter of Cecilia Wege (Forest Park, IL), Al Wege and stepdaughter of Carol (Roselle, IL); sister of Albert "Chip" Wege and sister-in-law of Karen (San Jose, CA); half-sister of Amanda and Matt (Roselle, IL); beloved by a multitude of very caring friends.
Beth will be greatly missed.
Wake Services at St. Bernadine Catholic Church, 7246 W. Harrison Street, Forest Park, IL on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. Memorial Mass to be held afterward at 10:30 a.m.
Interment to follow on Monday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
