She was the daughter of Nellie BROWN Wylie and J.A. Wylie of Newton County, Arkansas. She liked to use the name Betty later in life instead of her name Rita Mae. She and her mother Nellie left Arkansas and went out west, they ran a "Cot House" for the workers that was working on the Hoover Dam near Las Vegas, Nevada in the early 1930's. Betty married a man by the name of Luke Walker while in that area. Later she married Art Fidelman in the state of Washington, they lived in his home state of Pennsylvania for several years before returning to the Seattle, Washington area, her mother lived with them before she died. After he passed away she married last Glenn Gephart and they lived in Lynnwood, Washington until both of their deaths. Glenn passed before her in 1999.
