James was the third child in a family of six known children. His brothers and sisters were: a sister who died in infancy in 1869, Lawson D. Wyatt (1870-1923), George Reese Wyatt (1875-1921), Mary Wyatt (1877-1877), and William French Wyatt (1880-), all born in Kentucky.
James died when he was three years old. He is buried in the Jones Cemetery.
