Melvina was the sixth child in a family of eight children. Her brothers and sisters were: James McIntire (1830-), Elizabeth Sims McIntire-Adams (1833-1913), William D. About 1868, Melvina married William P. Wyatt, born in Virginia (1845-1908). William was a son of Enoch Wyatt (1799-1858), and Edith Elizabeth Love (1809-1879), both born in North Carolina.
