Mrs. John Burrow died last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of her son, August Burrow, in this city following an illness of nearly three weeks' duration. She had been a sufferer for some time from rheumatism and of late symptoms of heart trouble appeared, the immediate cause of her death being rheumatism of the heart.
Mrs. Burrow was born at Kientz, Pommerania, Germany, Sept. 21, 1833, and was 75 years old last September. In her native land she was married in her 21st year to John Burrow, the family coming to America in 1885, taking up their home in the vicinity of Alden and engaging in farming on Highland Prairie until about ten years ago, when they moved to this city, which has since been their home.
Decedent was a lady much respected and esteemed by her friends and acquaintances. Her life of industry and perseverance and her devotion to her home and family appealed to those who knew her and her life was one worthy of emulation. In her native country she became a member of the Lutheran church and throughout her life was a consistent and zealous member.
Besides the bereaved husband, six children survive, they being Carl of Alden, August of this city, Fred of Bonus, Gusta, wife of Wm. Schroeder of Alden, Recka, wife of Carl Krohn of Richmond and Minnie, wife of Henry Schmedel, residing in Nebraska.
The funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1 o'clock at her son's home and at 2 o'clock at the German Evangelical Lutheran St. Paul's church, Rev. R. R. Reinke officiating. Interment was in Mt. Auburn cemetery, the pall bearers being Wm. Breitenfeld, August Haaker, H. Leverenz, John Naggatz, Wm. Koch and Wm. Uerckfitz.
