Mrs. Murphy, widow of beloved husband Virgil A. Murphy, Sr., passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Born in Bessemer City, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Clifford Wright and Ona Mae Paire Wright. She was a devoted and longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Five O Plus Club and of the Ladies Sodality of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was an AVON representative for many years. She retired as owner and operator of Murphy's Open Air Market.
Surviving are her daughters, Dee Mayfield (Grayson) of Gilbert, SC, Jill M. Perry (Hugh) of Savannah, GA and Charlene M. Crumpton (Mike) of Lexington, SC; sons, Virgil A. Murphy, Jr. (Carol) at Ft. Jackson in Columbia, SC and Patrick Murphy (Brenna) of West Columbia; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one soon to be born.
