Shelby Wright, 82, Alexandria, passed away Sept. 26, 2007, at Community Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Liberty, Ky., the son of Joe and Ida (Lay) Wright, and lived most of his life in Alexandria.
Shelby retired in 1976 from Delco Remy after 31 years and was a farmer most of his life.
He attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662 and Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita (Ray) Wright of Alexandria; son, Rick (wife Sharon) Wright of Alexandria; three granddaughters, Melanie Wright of Yorktown, Melissa (husband Nelson) Colonis of West Lafayette and Jennifer (husband Michael) Messer of Indianapolis; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Devon Colonis, both of West Lafayette; sister, Flora Buck of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny, Elvin and Willis Wright.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard True officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
