Marlene was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Presque Isle, Maine, daughter of the late Vernon and Frances (Violette) Wright. She moved to Waterbury as a child. She graduated from Crosby High School in 1957 and attended college for several years. She worked in administration for Sears & Roebucks for many years until her retirement and later worked for her husband at Artie's Auto Body in Wolcott. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader in her younger years and her hobbies included doing crossword puzzles and going to the casino. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed reading the daily papers. She cherished family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Arthur A. George Jr. of Wolcott, Daniel A. George and his wife, Eileen, of Wolcott, and Robert J. George and his husband, Kirk Davidson, with whom she lived with in Old Saybrook; a daughter, Deborah Gaudiosi and her husband, Daniel, of Thomaston; two brothers, Vernon Wright Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Watertown, and Herbert Wright and his wife, Ina, of Naugatuck; a brother-in-law, Donald George Sr. and his wife, Claire, of Waterbury; six grandchildren, Kara Rosa and her husband, David, and Daniel Gaudiosi Jr., all of Watertown, Austin George of San Diego, Calif., Chad Gaudiosi and his wife, Sarah, currently serving in the Air Force stationed in Misawa, Japan, Arthur George III of Boston, Mass., and Daniel George Jr. of Wolcott; two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Anthony Rosa of Watertown; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Funeral 9 a.m. Friday from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, to St. Lucy's Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Garden Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
