WIFE OF JOHN H KRAUTER
Loyal Krauter died peacefully in her sleep on March 19 at the Arvin home she shared with her loving husband of more than 63 years, John Krauter. She was born on May 19, 1924 in Seattle, Washington to Loyal and Florence Wright and grew up in Portland, Oregon. Loyal and John met at a USO dance in 1944 when she was a student at Oregon State University and John was stationed with the U.S. Army near Corvallis. After Loyal graduated from OSU and John returned from World War II, he and Loyal were married in 1947. They homesteaded BLM land in Wyoming in 1950 before returning to Arvin to farm and raise five children in the home they designed and built together. Loyal served as Arvin High School attendance clerk and as a library assistant until her retirement.
She was a generous volunteer who led DiGiorgio School's Girl Scout troop for several years, and she sang alongside John in the choir of the Arvin Congregational Church, to which she devoted many years of service. Loyal also volunteered at the Kern County Library and at the Golden Empire Gleaners.
Loyal Krauter is survived by her husband, John; their children and spouses, Susan and James Harris of Vancouver, Washington, Allan Krauter and Anna Agenjo of Bakersfield, Mark and Debbie Krauter of Visalia, Ron Krauter of Bakersfield, and David and Tracy Krauter of Seattle. Loyal also leaves grandchildren, Amy, John, and Andrew Harris, Ryan and Peter Krauter, Maria and Nina Krauter, and Axel, Simon, and Miles Krauter; as well as great-grandchildren, Lucy Wood, Sam Skolnik, and Macen, Asher, and Quincy Krauter.
