Karen Lee (Wright) Harper of Frostburg, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, where she had been in the ICU for 10 days. She was born in Frostburg on June 30, 1957.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Otto and father, Arthur Wright.
She is survived by her dad, Robert Otto of Midland; a son, Jayson Harper and wife Christina also of Midland; a special friend, Robby Harper of Frostburg, who has been by her side for many years; and two special cousins, Patty Ann O'Brien and Connie Lee Brantner.
Karen worked as a beautician for 31 years, the majority of the that time at Tarrah Dawn Beauty Salon. She retired from there in 2009 after her respiratory illness rendered her disabled.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland, on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Burchell officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Karen loved all animals and donations may be made in her memory to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21502.
The family wishes to express thanks to the caregivers at Western Maryland Health System who did everything they could for Karen, as well as for family members who were with her.
Karen donated her body as a living legacy to the Maryland Board of Anatomy, in hopes that study would help others who suffer with respiratory problems, as well as her organs helping others to have better lives!
In honor of Karen, the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center will be flying the white Donate Life flag at half mass through Saturday.
