MRS. ANNA EVANS DIES IN WESTMONT Deceased was Mother of Thomas Edward Evans, Jr., Who Was Killed in France in 1918 Mrs. Anna (Worthington) Evans of 142 Clarion Street, Westmont, a resident of Johnstown for the past 42 years, died at 5:15 o'clock last evening after an illness of four years. Her condition became serious six months ago. She was 69 years of age. She was the daughter of Richard and Mary Morgan-Worthington and was born April 1, 1865, in Llanidloes, Wales. She came to the United States in October 1891 after the death of her Father Richard in June 1891. Accompanying her on the SS Aurani was her Mother Mary Morgan Worthington and young son, Thomas Edward. After arrival they lived for a time on Conemaugh Street (Lower Yoder) and moved to Westmont living on Wyoming Street and then Clarion Street.
She was the widow of Thomas Edward Evans, Sr., who died January 3, 1930, in Westmont. Mr. and Mrs. Evans were united in marriage in Wales in April 11, 1887. Mr. Evans was a pensioner of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, having been retired from service as a stationary engineer. Preceding her in death was her infant son, Thomas R., who died in Wales on October 12, 1887, and her brothers Edward, Richard Henry, and John. Her surviving son, Thomas Edward Evans, Jr., was killed while serving in the 305th Engineers, American Expeditionary Forces, in France on October 2, 1918, in action in France during the World War I
Also, preceding her in death are half-siblings Mary Ann Worthington-Jarman (1848-1876), Richard 1850 -?, and Edward (May 1851-November 1851). Jane Jones, her father's first wife, died in 1851.
Surviving Mrs. Evans are a daughter, Miss Mary Evans, at home, a sister, Jane (Mrs. Evan David Powell) of 146 Clarion Street, Westmont and a brother Thomas Worthington of North Wales. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Evans residence. Rev. J. Rhythms Roberts, pastor of the Westmont Presbyterian Church of which Mrs. Evans was a member, will officiate. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, in charge of Frank Gocher, mortician.
