MARGARET WOOLFOLK VIEL Mrs. Margaret Woolfolk Viel, formerly of 215 Piedmont Avenue #1603 Atlanta, GA, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Hospice Atlanta, after a five year battle with Alzheimer's disease. The funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2006 12:00 Noon at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 2295 Benjamin E. Mays Drive, Atlanta, GA 30311, with remains placed in state from 10:00 am -12:00 noon. Dr. Gerald Durley, officiating. Interment, Westview Cemetery. Cortege is asked to assemble at 11:00 am at the home of Judge & Mrs. Howard R. Johnson, Jr. Margaret was born on November 6, 1923 the fifth child of the late Mr. & Mrs. Julius Woolfolk Sr. (Katie) of Atlanta, Georgia. Her faith walk began as a child at Bethlehem Church of God in Atlanta, she continued her faith journey becoming a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church as a young bride in 1939, and maintained her membership until her death. At Providence, she was an active and faithful member of the Senior Usher Board and November Birth Month Club. She was married to the late Mr. Howard R. Dell Johnson Sr. and later to Mr. William L. Viel. An extremely business savvy woman, Margaret was successful in each business endeavor she undertook, from hotel wait staff at the historical Henry Grady Hotel, to successful restaurant owner of "The Casablanca" and co-owner of "The Sanabella", to real estate investor, and finally retail salesperson at "Robely Hats". She retired in 1988 and enjoyed spending time with and entertaining her family and friends during retirement. She was a member of the Greater Friendly Few Savings and Social Club. She is predeceased by husband Mr. William L. Viel (1980) and son Mr. Robert J. Johnson Sr. (1994) and will be fondly remembered by her survivors: Son & Daughters in Law: Judge & Mrs. Howard R. Dell Johnson Jr. (Rhonda Dauphin), Mrs. Peggye Kirby Johnson (Robert), and Ms. Emory Bert Miles; Grandchildren: Ms. Christi P. Johnson (Andre Forsythe), Mr. Robert J. Johnson II, Mr. Eddie J. Breaux, III "Trey", Mr. William Marley Breaux, and Miss Marjorie M. Johnson "Margaux"; Great-granddaughter; Miss Whittney D. Mitchell; Sisters: Mrs. Annie W. Copeland, Mrs. Eleazar Buckins (Constance); Brothers & Sisters-in-law: Mr. Eleazar Buckins, Mr. William Johnson, and Mrs. Antoinette Woolfolk; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 pm - 8 pm at the home of Judge & Mrs. Howard R. Johnson. Those desiring may make donations in remembrance of Margaret W. Viel to Providence Missionary Baptist Church, The Alzheimer's Association of Georgia, or Hospice Atlanta.
