Elva E. Cook, 103, of Pana died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 8:42 a.m. in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 16, 1902, in Herrick, IL, the daughter of Lloyd C. & Mary Emma Fry Woolard. She enrolled and graduated from Mrs. Heller's Beauty School in Decatur. She was employed at Galster's Beauty and Barber Shop before opening her own beauty salon in her home which she operated for nine years. Elva was the oldest living member of First United Methodist Church of Pana where she was a charter member of the Methodist Women and had served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a 78-year member of Arcana Chapter, Order of Eastern Star where she and Harry served in many offices, including three years as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron.
Elva married Harry L. Cook on January 5, 1936 in the Shelbyville Methodist Parsonage.
She is survived by her niece, Donna Belle Culberson, Pana, IL and by her first cousin, Lloyd Woolard & his wife Reva, Pana, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband on September 19, 1998, and brother Oran Woolard on March 23, 2000.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in First United Methodist Church, Pana, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. In-Sook Hwang and Rev. M. Thomas Swantner officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time of service at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, IL
