Mabelle A. Beeson, 95, a lifelong resident of Marion, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the Fourth Avenue Care Center in Cedar Rapids. She was born the daughter of Mark and Mary Sommers Woodward on June 9, 1889 at Marion. On July 28, 1913 at Marion, she was married to John A. Beeson who died Sept. 14, 1968. She graduated from Marion High School in 1907 and attended Coe College. Mrs. Beeson taught in the Marion school system for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church; Cary Club; Marion Chapter No. 183, O.E.S.; and Milwaukee Women's Club.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Ives Beeson of Marion; and two grandchildren, Philip I Beeson of Swisher and Mary Beeson of Marion. She was preceded in death by a son, John A. Beeson, Jr., and a sister, Ina W. Bragg.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Jay A. Miller. Interment was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
