Last Saturday afternoon, about 4 o'clock our city was thrown into a fever heat of excitement by the shooting of Dr. W. H. Woodward - and old and highly respected citizen of Republic County.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Died- At his residence, in this city Sunday morning, November 13, 1881 W.H. Woodward, Jr., aged 40 years.
The deceased was one of the best physicians and surgeons in Northern Kansas, and well known throughout the whole northwest as an honorable, upright man, whose kindness of heart had endeared him to a large circle of friends.
His work on earth is done. One weary man drops out of the ranks of the workers into the eternal rest; that is all. The centuries pass and the same thing is repeated. The workman is gone, the work remains.
