Note: Windham -- Mary L. Grant, 63, of Gray Road, died Feb. 23, 2006 at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla., after a long illness. She was born in Damariscotta, the daughter of Roscoe P. and Gertrude E. Wallace Woodman. She graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1961. Mary worked at the Pineland Center for over 20 years, after its closing she worked as a clerk at the DMV until her retirement. Mary was very active in the North Windham Union Church where she was a deacon a member of the Ladies Guild and served on the Stewardship Committee. She participated in all facets of church life in one way or another often inspiring others to service and mission outreach. Mary loved to help people within the community and the church often cooking for the sick and people who couldn't make it out of their home. Her family said that her main purpose in life was helping anyone she could, be it a neighbor, friend and even those she didn't know. Mary and her husband Reg wintered in West Melbourne, Fla., where she enjoyed swimming and biking. She is survived by her husband Reginald Reg,; her two sons, Reginald J. Grant Jr., and his wife Tamara of Marietta, N.Y., and Roscoe A.M. Grant and his wife Sabrina of Windham; two sisters, Margaret Peggy Young of Hudson, and Jeanette Hanson of Wiscasset; her grandchildren, Roscoe A.M. Grant II and Alana L. Grant of Windham. Mary is also survived by her special friends, Sandy and Ted Thoburn, Cuddy Dunham, Sally Shaw, Sharon Rowe and family and Harry and Marge Gowell. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 27, from 7-9 p.m., at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Dana Reed officiating at the North Windham Union Church, 723 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to: Deacon's Emergency Assistance Fund, North Windham Union Church, 723 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, Maine 04062. Mary L. Grant.
