ROCKLAND – Beatrice F. Butler, 93, died Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at Knox Center for Long Term Care, where she had resided the past three weeks. Prior to that, she had lived independently at her West Meadow Road home. Born at Ash Point, March 12, 1910, at that time in the Town of South Thomaston, she was one of six children of Arthur C. and Etta F. Brown Woodman. She was educated in local schools.
For more than 63 years, she was married to William Butler and assisted her husband in the operation of their farm. Mr. Butler died in 1989.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockland.
Other than her husband, Mrs. Butler was pre-deceased by one daughter Doris J. Stanley in 1988; three brothers,
Earl Woodman, Arthur T. Woodman in 2001 and Russell W. Woodman this past Saturday, as well as two sisters, Gladys and Dorothy. She is survived by two sons, William A. Butler of Camden, Carl W. Butler and his wife Barbara of Palermo; one daughter Maxine H. Jordan of Thomaston; one son-in-law Gordon K. Stanley of Glen Cove; eight grandchildren, William W. Butler and his wife Linda of Gardiner, Deborah Coster, Kimberly Brown and her husband Blake all of Palermo, Cynthia Spearin and her husband Stephen of Warren, Cheryl Wile and her husband Andrew of Greenville, N.H., Donna Tochterman and her husband James of Rockland, Helen Bickford of Rockport, Nancy Counce and her husband Alan of Rockland; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Spring interment will be in Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
